Mississippi River Fishing Tournament Basics
The FLW EverStart Series' event is slated to kick off on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Clinton Street Landing West in La Crosse. Participating pro anglers are expected to launch their fishing boats daily, from that location, at 5:30 a.m. They will be competing for a prize purse worth well over $30,000 and valuable points.
A 1:30 p.m. weigh-in session is anticipated to occur at the Clinton Street Landing West the first two days of the fishing tournament. The final day's weigh-in is expected to take place at 2 p.m. Pro fishing aficionados are welcome to watch both the daily launches and weigh-ins.
The Mississippi River event is the FLW EverStart Series' Central Division's third fishing tournament of the 2012 season. The Central Division's final fishing tournament of the season is expected to take place in Osage Beach, Missouri, Thursday, September 13, 2012 through Saturday, September 15, 2012.
Previous Winners
The first two Central Division events took place earlier in the year. The April 2012 fishing tournament in Bull Shoals, Arkansas, was won by angler Robbie Dodson of Harrison, Arkansas. The May 2012 fishing tournament in Gilbertsville, Kentucky, was won by angler Randy Haynes of Counce, Tennessee.
Current Standings
As it stands now, pro angler Ray Meredith of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, is sitting not so comfortably at the top of the division's leader board. Meredith has 388 points but so does Zach King of Clarksville, Arkansas. King is currently sitting in 2nd place with pro angler Lance Ricketts of Madisonville, Kentucky, close behind him. Ricketts presently has 386 points to his credit. The division's remaining top five spots are currently held by pro anglers Matt Robertson and Shane Long.
What's Next?
The next FLW EverStart Series' event is slated to take place Thursday, August 16, 2012 through Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the French Creek Marina located in Clayton, New York. It is considered part of the FLW EverStart Series' Northern Division's tournaments. The FLW EverStart Series Championship is expected to take place along the Ouachita River in the late fall.
